Celebrate springtime during VIVID Costa Brava
In April during the VIVID wine festival are many events in the Empordà. It is the fourth edition of this festival in both the Alt Empordà and Baix Empordà. This wine region of the Costa Brava is a region of contrasts where sea and mountains meet. Small fishing villages and beautiful beaches on the Costa Brava with medieval towns in the inland. Characteristic is the northen wind, the tramontane, which influences the wines.
Empordà is one of the oldest wine regions and Roman archaeological excavations in Platja d’Aro and Tossa de Mar show the remains of this wine production. Wine was also produced by monks in monasteries since the 12th century. The monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes is an example of this. The region is best known for its red wines. White and rosé wines, but also cava and sweet wines Moscatel and Garnatxa de l’Empordà are also produced.
More than 50 wine activities during Vívid
During the whole month of April there are various activities around wine and gastronomy. In Roses they start on March 29 with a Ruta de les Tapes and Restaurant La Tastaollettes in Sant Antoni de Calonge has a special tasting menu from April 5 to 7. Recommended! Last year I was there myself to taste the small dishes of the female chef and it was a very tasty Sunday afternoon.
There are also combinations with music such as jazz and oysters, walks through the vineyards with dinner and much more!
